-         Fat Quarter Exchange – Bring an unwashed (quality quilter’s cotton) fabric fat quarter (18”x22”) of a red and white fabric (red print on white background or white print on red background.  Each volunteer to participant will put her name in a drawing.  One or two of us will go home with a new fat quarter stash!

Charity Quilting

Volunteers meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at Clinton Presbyterian Church (Route 228 in Clinton Township) from 10 AM – 2 PM.  Bring a bag lunch.  Days are subject to change in holiday months.  See Donna T. for details.

 

Mary K.’s Pumpkin Bars

2 1/4 t. dry yeast (1 pkg.)

1 egg

1/2 c. sugar

1-2 T. wheat gluten (optional)

1 t. salt

6 c. flour

1/4 c. oil

 

1. Mix all wet ingredients with dry ingredients.

2. Knead well.

3. Let rise once in bowl until doubled.

4. Form into loaves or bins.

5. Let rise until doubled in pans.

6. Bake at 350' until browned - 30 minutes for loaves, 18 minutes for large pan of buns.

7. Can be used for pizza dough, cinnamon rolls, or fried dough.

 

Mary K.’s Pumpkin Bars

¾ c. sugar

¾ c. canned pumpkin

½ t. salt

1 t. cinnamon

¼ c. Crisco

1 ¼ c. flour

¼ c. chopped nuts

½ t. ginger

1 egg

½ t. baking soda

2 c. raisins, soaked

¼ t. cloves

1 t. vanilla

 

 

 

1. Cream sugar and butter, add egg, vanilla & pumpkin. 

2. Add sifted flour, soda, salt & spices. 

3. Fold in chopped nuts & raisins. 

4. Spread evenly in greased 9x9 pan. 

5.  Bake at 375' for 17 to 20 minutes. 

6. Cool slightly and frost with spice frosting (recipe below).

7. Cut into bars.

Spice Frosting

1/4 c. brown sugar

2 T. milk

dash ginger

1/2 t. vanilla

3 T. butter

1/4 t. cinnamon

dash cloves

1 c. powdered sugar

1. Combine all ingredients in saucepan. 

2. Beat in powdered sugar to make the frosting of spreading consistency.

3. Cook and stir until mixture bubbles. 

4. Remove from heat. 

5. Stir in vanilla.

Membership Dues Reminder

Article III of our guild by-laws states:

“Dues are $2.00 per month, payable in April and October.  Dues not paid at the April or October meeting are to be paid within 30 days, either in person or by mail to the Treasurer of the Guild.  Failure to pay dues by the May or November meeting will result in said member’s name being dropped from the Guild’s membership list.  Membership may be re-instated upon receipt of current dues.”

Note: If your name is dropped from membership, you will no longer receive the guild newsletter.  You may send your dues to Mary K., Guild Treasurer.  She will notify Sue D., our Membership Chairwoman.
